Cine Film Colour Correction

Cine film will always benefit from some expert colour correction to fix colours that have altered and faded over time.

Different makes of film deteriorate differently, with the most common problem being that the films turns a shade of purple or green, and the colours fade.

In the example above you can see the original colours as captured by the scanner, are quite purple and dark with a cold feel to them. Alongside is the finished film after our editor has applied colour correction filters to correct the tones, warm up the image and make it punchier and stronger.

We use a variety of filters including colour filters, contrast enhancers and de-noise, which makes the picture smoother and clearer.

For this example we’ve deliberately not chosen brilliant film, but gone for more typical home movie footage from the 1970s which was actually very dirty and warped at the edges, so not in great condition, so it’s a really fair example of what you can expect.

This work is carried out as standard with all orders at Alive Studios.

SCI-FI Meets Super 8

Cara Delevingne Is a Super Sexy Robot Shot on a Kodak Super 8

Using an early prototype of the new Kodak Super 8 camera, which will be commercially available later this year, Renell revealed Cara’s candid side as she was photographed by Mariano Vivanco in a variety of vintage Mugler outfits.

Striking set design, mind-bending effects and awe-inspiring performances from some of the best actors in the world – there’s a reason that French director Luc Besson’s latest cinematic offering, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, is one of the most highly anticipated films of the summer.

Celebrating the launch of Besson’s film, actor and model Cara Delevingne – who stars in the film alongside Dane DeHann – was shot by Mariano Vivanco for the August cover of British GQ. Kodak and photographer Renell Medrano were granted exclusive access to the Barbarella-themed shoot in Paris to create a behind-the-scenes short film, captured entirely on the brand new Super 8 camera .

Based on the cult French comic book Barbarella, Roger Vadim’s 1968 sci-fi film featuring Jane Fonda as a blonde-haired, silver-booted incarnation of the iconic astronaut from the 41st century – seized imaginations around the world.

Barbarella’s genre-defining incandescence still reverberates beyond the realm of sci-fi, with Jean-Paul Gaultier nodding to Barbarella as a major influence for the visually tantalizing costumes that appeared in Luc Besson’s classic, The Fifth Element.
