What are Chaptered Menus?
Gone are the days when you have to endlessly rewind & fast forward
through your films to find your favourite parts... With the introduction of DVD we give
you the facility to jump straight in at your favourite part - instantly - at the touch
of a button.
For just £50 we will split your DVD or Blu-ray into chapters (1 chapter per reel for cine film, with it's own title of upto 30 characters) and create a personalised menu
screen to access them. Not sure what a DVD/Blu-ray menu is? Just think about
the index page of a book. Touch the chapter you want to read and the
book falls open at that exact page. Thats how DVD & Blu-ray menus work.

Add titles to my film - £2.50 per screen
On-screen titles are now
available to really personalise your film. Perhaps it’s a dedication to a loved one, maybe you want
to have the title of your film displayed such as
“The Smith Family Movies 1965-1975”
or maybe you want a title at the start of each decade. You could even have a title come up for every chapter saying the date, place and event for each one. Whatever use you find, titles can really add the professional touch.
You can have upto 2 lines per
screen, maximum 30 characters per line. £2.50 per screen. |

Are you one of many people who has tapes that have very good film on that you want to watch, but you are aware your film work is a little 'messy' and really wish it could be cleaned up a little before it is transferred to DVD?
Then this is the service for you...
"Transfer Plus" is the same high-quality transfer we always offer, but with one major difference...
One of our editors will actually watch your film for you and give the footage a good "clean up".
By "clean up" we are referring to scenes where you are filming the floor, or are walking whilst recording but there's nothing really worthwhile happening. We aim to cut down your film by removing the unnecessary clips wherever possible, resulting in a more watchable, tidy film.
This service is offered on the understanding that you cannot make specific instructions as our charge allows for basic clean-up editing only, and is not intended as a full, detailed edit.
Work is carried out at your editors discretion, and whilst we are happy to read through any notes you wish to make (perhaps to point out a specific area you are concerned about), we cannot guarantee that any special requests can be met.. but we aim to please so we're sure you'll be really pleased with this service.

Our VIP service inc our acclaimed high quality transfer including digital remastering. We then go a step further than our "Transfer Plus" service by giving you your own dedicated editor, who will meticulously edit your footage to remove all the rubbish and focus on the good stuff.
This service is incredibly versatile and extremely personalised so you are welcome to speak directly to your editor to discuss your specific desires. The VIP service is available to a select number of people only as each editor must put a limit on how many films he/she can look after to this degree of quality.
The added bonus of this service is that you bypass the queues and your order goes directly to your editor for an immediate start. You will have direct telephone and email contact with your editor at all times, and he/she will phone or email you with any questions about personal preference throughout the job to ensure perfection for you.

Alive Studios recommend customers to order an archive copy of their transfer on mini dv tape. This highly versatile, high quality, long-lasting format allows you to easily edit your films at a later date, and the nature of the tape is very durable and far harder to damage than a DVD or Hard Drive.
Whilst many customers order AVI files for editing, you will find a miniDV tape a better permanent storage format. If you want to safely store this important film for generations to come, then this is your best option by far.

This Format is best suited to Windows users, and works with all the major editing applications on a PC or Apple Mac. AVI uses the DV codec so it's the same quality as miniDV and DVCAM.

What is Blu-ray?
Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD) is the name of a next-generation optical disc format. The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.
Crystal Clear Picture
Blu-ray Discs have up to 6x better picture resolution than DVD. Resolution refers to the number of horizontal lines there are to fill the screen – the higher the number, the better the picture quality. Blu-ray Discs and players display at 1080p resolution, which is the highest standard today.
Advanced Interactivity
Seamless menus allow you to navigate the disc without ever leaving the movie. In the future, internet connectivity will deliver new content to enhance your film experience.
Backwards Compatible
All Blu-ray players can play DVDs. In addition, Blu-ray players “upconvert” or “upscale” DVDs to a higher resolution so that they look even better than before.

Our editors scrutinize your film for the best bits - the HighLights - and painstakingly put these together timed in to your favourite song, using slow-motion, black and white, and other eye-catching effects to create your very own Hollywood trailer of your life.

Draft Copy Service - Learn more
Draft Copy Service £15 per hour of film
What is this service for?
We offer the "draft copy" service to help you organise your tapes into the right order and choose appropriate names for the chapter headings.
First, we transfer all your tapes to DVD, making each tape it's own chapter - so if you have 12 tapes, the DVD will have 12 chapters. We display a "Time Stamp", and current tape on-screen during the entire movie. So you don't have to worry about how to get your TV to display this information for you, it is ever-present so you always know exactly which tape is playing, and you make note of the exact time-code to request any changes to your film.
After watching the DVD with your family, you contact us with details of the exact order you want us to follow, deleting any tapes you don't want included. At this stage you can also give each chapter a unique title for the DVD menu, and even add things like on-screen titles, dedications and messages for just £2.50.
If ordering on Blu-ray your final film will be produced on Blu-ray but drafts are supplied on standard DVDs
