Chaptered Menus £25
Gone are the days when you have to endlessly rewind & fast forward
through your photo slideshow to find your favourite part... With the introduction of DVD & Blu-ray we give
you the facility to jump straight in at your favourite part - instantly - at the touch
of a button.
For just £25 we will split your DVD & Blu-ray into chapters of your choice, and create a personalised menu
screen to access them. Not sure what a DVD/Blu-ray menu is? Just think about
the index page of a book. Touch the chapter you want to read and the
book falls open at that exact page. Thats how DVD & Blu-ray menus work.
There are many ways you can split your photos or slides into chapters. Perhaps you want to sort them into years, or decades, or specific events. However you split them, just arrange them in a way that we can follow - there is no hard and fast rule here, as it depends on how your photos are stored. Many people like to separate each batch into it's own envelope and write the title of the chapter on the envelope. Please do what suits you best, and provide us with clear written instructions to follow and we'll do the rest.
A DVD menu is a functionally
essential tool to help you organise your images, and a beautiful visual
enhancement if giving as a gift.

Your
Slides and photos on DVD and Blu-ray - the Professional Way
At
Alive Studios we don't believe in cutting corners.
When scanning slides to DVD or Blu-ray,
we believe it's attention
to detail that counts.
Our reputation is built on
exceptionally high quality, fast turnarounds and
excellent customer service. |
|

How
do we scan your slides?
Every slide is individually
scanned using a high-end low noise 3-line CCD sensor
built specifically for 35mm slides and negatives. The quality is
so far superior to a flat-bed system that it is not
even comparable. Our vertical scanner scans each
slide 4 times at alternating angles to achieve the
best possible image. A further pass is made with
an infra-red light which can detect the difference
between the actual surface of the film and dirt and
dust stuck to the surface.
Where it detects an object
that is stuck to the surface it scans past this,
resulting in a cleaner, more restored image. The system also checks
the lighting and contrast of your photo and alters it's
settings to compensate for under/over exposed pictures. Scanned at A true optical resolution of 4,000 dpi gives us an average pixal size of 5300x3500 (54mb uncompresed)
If you own a fat-bed scanner, you may have read about a feature called 'Digital Ice'. This is a feature designed to help you clean up your image without any graphical skills or software, and is performed by the scanner. This is fine if you're doing the scanning yourself, but it is well known that a human graphic artist will always be able to acheive better results, so here at Alive Studios we do not opt for the short-cut. We do not use Digital Ice, instead we spend the extra time and have our graphical team painstakingly touch-up each image by hand. Request a free sample to see the quality for yourself. |
 |
Once the hardware has done
it's work, our skilled graphic artists get to work. Each
photo is loaded into image manipulation software and painstakingly
improved to remove unsightly hairs, scratches and blemishes.
We also pay close attention to making sure the colours
are restored to their original brightness and vibrancy,
in effect bringing those dull tired slides back to life.

What is the DVD like?
You DVD starts with a beautiful
intro which fades to one of our fantastic FREE
themed menus (see left). You can send
a CD with your own choice of music, or
opt for our classical instrumental, and
it's all included in the price. We will automatically put chapter markers
every 2-3 minutes (approx every 50 photos). |
If you want to separate your photos into
your own chapters, simply separate them
into envelopes, or with elastic bands,
indicating what each chapter should
be called, ie photos 1-25 are called "Our
Early Years - 1960's" photos 25-50 are called "Late
60's with the Boys"
and so on... There is no extra charge for this wonderful
service which turns a normal slideshow
into a fantastic home movie. We offer a choice of 12 themes to choose from (see links to left). These themed DVD menus are completely free so you can go to town with some stylish chapters and menu systems.

What is the Blu-ray like? Our Slides to Blu-ray service produces true, full High Definition movie on your TV screen in full 1920 x 1080. So if you've inveted in a HD televison and really want to show off the full power of it, then go for this service - you will be blown away! Inc genuine HD menus too! |
 |
And remember to future-proof yourself... even if you've not gone HD yet, it's still a good idea to order a copy on Blu-ray now as well as your DVD, because we will all be HD very soon and you don't want to pay out again in a few years to do this job all over again to high definition! It's just a one-off cost of £25 to produce your Blu-ray disc no matter how many slides your have.

 |
How is it packaged?
You will see from the rest of the website that we produce only the highest quality DVD products, and with customers like the British and Scottish Museums, the BBC and ITV, they expect only the best. Before you even play your DVD you will be impressed with the packaging and presentation.
Every order is packaged in a full size DVD case with a colour wrap-around sleeve which we personalised using your chosen title and picture. The disc is professionally printed on, again with your chosen title. All
this takes that bit of extra time and care
but we think it's worth it as the end result
is fantastic your memories are worth taking
care of.
