Video Tapes & Camcorder Tapes Upscaled to HD
8th October 2009
In an effort to maximize the quality of your film, and to take full advantage of your High Definition TV, we have introduced state-of-the-art upscaling capabilities to our video transfer service.
This is a brand new service just launched in September 2009.
Upscaling is a process that mathematically matches the pixel count of your film to the physical pixel count on your High-Definition TV, which is typically 1920x1080 (1080i).
This can deliver a smoother-looking image, due to the fact that lines and pixels are displayed in a consecutive pattern, rather than in an alternate pattern, giving your film substantially better detail and color consistency.

9.5mm Frame Scanning Service is a Huge Success...
15th August 2008
Technical capabilities go from strength to strength at Alive Studios with the launch of their latest Phoenix Model,
dedicated to 9.5mm film. The company believe they are the first and only studio to offer a full one-on-one frame scan of 9.5mm film in the UK. Head of 9.5mm production, Steven Flowers says the results they are achieving has far outweighed his expectations, and they are now receiving interest from museums and film archives who had previously thought their collections were not possible to scan, and are now hopeful of producing results good enough to exhibit, broadcast and even release on DVD. A demonstration of the new 9.5mm Phoenix system can be found here |

Blue-Ray wins HD War
1st August 2008
The Blue-Ray vs HD-DVD 'war' is finally over with HD-DVD taking the loss. The final knock came after a number of moves from Movie Studios were made, leaving HD-DVD with no chance.
Toshiba confirmed it's abandoning its HD DVD format, leaving the market to just one standard. The Blu-ray now becomes the de facto choice in players, opening the way for booming sales and lower prices, after many consumers waited impatiently on the sidelines to see which one would survive the ultimate business bout. "We concluded that a swift decision would be best," explains Toshiba President Atsutoshi Nishida. Last month's decision by movie giant Warner Bros. Entertainment to release its pictures solely in the Blu-ray format was the death knell for HD DVD. It was a fight Toshiba simply couldn't afford to wage with the writing on the video wall. "That had tremendous impact," Nishida agrees. "If we had continued, that would have created problems for consumers, and we simply had no chance to win." |

VIP Service is hailed a Success - New Editors join the team...
1st August 2008
A small team was set up in February 2008 to look after a small handful of VIP clients who wanted a more exclusive service when transferring their families film footage and photographs. Each VIP client was assigned to an editor who looks after them on a daily basis, providing draft copies of their work for their input, re-editing and altering until the client is happy with the final version. Gold laser-etched discs and custom-designed sleeves are a few of the perks of this service, along with a one-on-one relationship directly with your editor who's sole purpose is to stretch their abilities to produce breath-taking films for their clients. Demand for this exclusive service has increased to the point where 2 new editors have joined the team to allow us to open the doors to new clients again. Our doors will close when these 2 staff are assigned so if interested, please make contact right away. |

We don't think the slide editors will be fighting over this one! |
