Menu Themes for £50

Chaptered Menus £50
Gone are the days when you have to endlessly rewind & fast forward through your films to find your favourite part... With the introduction of DVD & Blu-ray we give you the facility to jump straight in at your favourite part - instantly - at the touch of a button.

For just £50 we will split your DVD & Blu-ray into appropriate chapters, and create a personalised menu screen to access them. Not sure what a DVD/Blu-ray menu is? Just think about the index page of a book. Touch the chapter you want to read and the book falls open at that exact page. Thats how DVD & Blu-ray menus work.

We take all the hassle out for you too - our editors have been building DVD menus for our customers for many many years and have become quite the experts in splitting home movies into suitable chapters without any input required from you. We create a new chapter for each relevant change of scene. So for example, your films start with a trip to the beach, then a barbeque, then a birthday party, then some family footage in the garden. We will create at least four chapters for each main event, giving them appropriate names like "Our day at the beach" and "Barbeque Evening" etc. We also tend to put in 'inbetween' chapters too, where we feel it's suitable. For example, the birthday party might be split into "bouncy castle fun' and 'candles on the cake', to help you locate your favourite parts as easily as possible.

A DVD menu is a functionally essential tool to help you organise your films, and makes a beautiful visual enhancement if giving as a gift.

There are several themes to choose from, and you can even personalise your box with a photo.

Why Transfer?
To film our family memories in High Definition is a great leap forward, but to leave them languishing on tape or memory cards while you watch them on standard definition DVDs is truly a waste. You bought that HD camcorder to enjoy the quality of HD, and get the best out of your HD television.

Without faclity to make your own Blu-rays, you become one of the thousands of us who connect their camcorder to their TV in an attempt to view your tapes in HD. Sure, you get to see the HD footage, but there's no functionality. You have to endlessly fast-forward and rewind the tapes to find the parts you want to watch. The film is not edited so you have to sit through all your bad filming. But most importantly, this method puts serious strain on your tapes, risking permanent damage and possible loss altogether of your precious footage. Tapes are not designed to be used to view from. It's essential that you transfer the footage onto a viewable medium, then safely store the tapes away as a backup of the original material.

Many people now have facility at home to make a DVD, and this is something you may have already tried. If you have, you know that the downgrade in quality from HD to DVD is such a shame. The only way to truly enjoy this wonderful HD footage is to have it professionally transferred from your camcorder tapes to Blu-Ray disc.

Don't risk damaging your tapes forever, and never settle for second best...

"Why should I upgrade to the Upscale service?..."
Upscaling to Blu-Ray - Getting More Out Of Your Video Footage.
In an effort to maximize the quality of your film, and to take full advantage of your High Definition TV, we have introduced state-of-the-art upscaling capabilities to our video transfer service. This is a brand new service just launched in September 2009.

Upscaling is a process that mathematically matches the pixel count of your film to the physical pixel count on your High-Definition TV, which is typically 1280x720 (720p), 1920x1080 (1080i), or 1920x1080p (1080p).

This can deliver a smoother-looking image, due to the fact that lines and pixels are displayed in a consecutive pattern, rather than in an alternate pattern, giving your film substantially better detail and color consistency.

"My Blu-Ray/DVD Player/HDTV already has upscaling technology..."
It is true that all HDTVs do have their own internal scalers as well. This fact often gives way to comments that upscaling your camcorder footage isn't really needed, because an HDTV will upscale all incoming signals to its native display resolution anyway. In response, you have to keep in mind that the scalers built into most HDTVs are very basic and often times do not have advanced processing to eliminate scaling artifacts, such as jagged edges, motion adaptive noise reduction, mosquito noise, and detection of various video and film cadences. All things considered, having your film footage professionally upscaled at the point of transfer will provide far better quality than leaving it down to the technology in a typical HDTV.

What is Blu-ray?
Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD) is the name of a next-generation optical disc format.
The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of
high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data.

The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold
up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. (DVDs hold just 4.7GB).

Crystal Clear Picture
Blu-ray Discs have up to 6x better picture resolution than DVD. Resolution refers to the number of horizontal lines there are to fill the screen – the higher the number, the better the picture quality. Blu-ray Discs and players display at 1080p resolution, which is the highest standard today. (DVDs have just 576 lines).

Advanced Interactivity
Seamless menus allow you to navigate the disc without ever leaving the movie.
Beautiful themed menus with unique chapters for each new scene, incuding pop-up menus are included free of charge on all camcorder to Blu-ray orders at Alive Studios.

Backwards Compatible
All Blu-ray players can play DVDs. In addition, Blu-ray players “up convert” or “upscale” DVDs to a higher resolution so that they look even better than before.

I have Blu-ray but my family and friends don't
No problems, by having us convert your camcorder tapes to Blu-Ray, you guarantee yourself the best possible version of your film, and it's not much more money to have us do you a DVD for your friends and family who don't yet have a Blu-ray player. In the future, you can copy the Blu-ray disc for them as they upgrade their equipment.
