This interesting piece fell into my in-box a few weeks ago, and I just had to share it with our readers. Fingers crossed I get to go…
Conductor Anthony Gabriele and the British Sinfonietta are proud to present a very special screening of director Alfred Hitchcock’s classic, ‘Psycho’. Fifty years on from its release, this cinematic masterpiece comes alive in a big-screen presentation accompanied by a live performance of Bernard Herrmann’s spine-tingling score. Now viewed as a classic film score, Hitchcock understood its power early on and recognised how the music was integral to building the drama and tension of the film. For one ticket price, see one of the greatest thrillers of all time on the big screen and experience a renowned live orchestra performing one of the most iconic scores in cinema history.
The British Sinfonietta is one of the UK’s leading independent professional orchestras. They regularly perform in classical concerts, choral concerts, televised events and studio recording sessions. They have also collaborated with internationally-renowed artists such as Dame Evelyn Glennie, Karl Jenkins, Noah Stewart, Catrin Finch and Wynne Evans, and perform widely in London, Bristol, Wiltshire and Wales.
One of cinemas most influential and enduring directors, Alfred Hitchcock was a pioneer of cinematic technique and the psychological thriller genre. Directing more than 50 films in a career spanning six decades, he is frequently ranked among the greatest directors of all time and as Britain’s greatest filmmaker. In 1960 he directed Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins in the now iconic ‘Psycho’, a film which horrified and delighted audiences in equal measure, and is now ranked as one of the best films ever made. His other noted films include ‘Vertigo’, ‘Rear Window’, ‘North By Northwest’ and ‘The Birds’.
